The Republic Of Ghana, formerly the Gold Coast, is located in West Africa, North of the Gulf Of Guinea. It was called the "Gold Coast" , because of its natural resources, GOLD. It achieved independence from Britain, in 1960. It has been known to have had intense colonial rivalry in the 17th century. It was acquired by Britain in the 19th century. When Ghana, gained independence from Britain, its goal was to become a beacon of success in Africa. Eventually other countries became jealous of Ghana's national sovereignty, so military revolts began.

Two secrets to Ghana's success is free media, which means that everything is announced on the local radio the second it happens, allowing people to get involved a lot more. The second factor was the existence of vigilant NGOs that help the country progress a significant amount.
